Safeguarding 2 (Club Children's Officer Workshop) The Club Children's Officer should be child centred in focus and have as the primary aim the establishment of a child centred ethos within the club. S/he is the link between the children & the adults in the club. S/he also takes responsibility for monitoring & reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy impacts on young people & Sports Leaders. This course will help the Club Children's Officer to carry out the function of their roles and support the implementation of best practice in the club. Participants will receive a Club Children's Officer Action Planning document as part of the training. You must have completed safeguarding 1 to be eligible to take part in this workshop.

Dreaming of swimming out to that first buoy? This is the course for you. The programme is designed to improve confidence and technique in open water. Participants should be able to swim 50m, with a goal of completing 700m at the end of the programme. Sessions are 45 minutes long. Wetsuits are recommended but not essential, all participants must have a tow float.

This is Your Chance … as a volunteer to learn how to create positive experiences for people with disabilities to be active in sport and physical activity. Cara is offering 100 free places on their Inclusive Volunteer Programme to volunteers at club and community level. Each participant will receive online Inclusive Disability Training, endorsed by Sport Ireland, and participation in our volunteer webinar, presented by Rob Hartnett, Sport For Business. The programme aims to empower new and existing volunteers to provide positive opportunities for people with disabilities in sport and physical activity. We welcome applications from people with disabilities who are interested in volunteering and would like to up-skill in the area of sport and physical activity inclusion in their community.

This year’s Longford Summer Walking Series takes place over four weeks in July supported by Longford Tourism. Join us on one of our eight walks that will take place right across the County on some of Longford's lovely walking trails. A walk will take place each Monday and Wednesday evening at 6.30pm over four weeks in July.
Ministers Catherine Martin and Jack Chambers welcomed the publication of the Sport Ireland Participation Plan 2021-2024 – Increasing Participation in Changing Ireland. The Participation Plan outlines how Sport Ireland will continue to help people get active by removing barriers to participation in sport and physical activity in the coming years. The Sport Ireland Participation Plan actions will be delivered through Local Sports Partnerships, National Governing Bodies, strategic partners, clubs, communities and individuals. Sportshall Athletics is an exciting indoor programme of adapted athletic activities for children from 3rd to 6th class which focuses on fitness and multi-skill development providing a grounding for all sports. Sportshall Athletics is inclusive and encourages children to get fit whilst creating friendship and having lots of fun Unfortunately, this year we cannot run our County competitions however we will still be providing schools with the opportunity to transform their sport’s hall or gymnasium into an arena of fun-filled athletics activities. Longford Sport’s Partnership will provide a Tutor with equipment to add to your day’s activities.
