Sports Taster Day for older people to celebrate Positive Ageing Week and European Week of Sport

This event is run by Longford Sports Partnership is open to all older adults in County Longford.  The Sports Taster day will involve walking football, go for life games and aqua fit.

Late Night Soccer League is back!

Safeguarding 1

Date: Thursday 5th October
Time: 7pm-10pm
Location: Longford County Council, Aras an Chontae, Great Water St., Longford

All volunteers, coaches, children’s officers and designated liaison persons (DLP) involved in any capacity with children in sport must first complete the 3-hour Child Welfare and Protection Basic Awareness Course. This course educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in sport.

 

Certification is awarded by Sport Ireland on completion of this workshop. Participants must attend the full 3-hour session and should be over 18 years of age.

Sports First Aid

Date: Saturday 14th October
Time: 9.30am
Location: EDI Centre Longford

Longford Sports Partnership host 'Sports Injuries / Sports First Aid Courses'.

If you're involved in a sports club from team level to management, the importance of basic first aid provision cannot be over emphasised. This course will bring you through the basics of emergency care and enable you to keep any casualty safe until an ambulance arrives.

Areas covered include:

  • Approach to accident
  • Disorders of breathing and CPR
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Fractures and broken bones
  • Spinal injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Medical emergencies.
